Some stories begin with a conversation. Ours began with a glimpse: a chance encounter after a church service that sparked something neither of us could ignore.
What followed was a journey of missed moments, divine timing and a friendship that blossomed into forever.
I first noticed Ayomikun after a church service in 2021. She caught my attention immediately, but before I could introduce myself, she had hurried off with her friends. I watched the opportunity slip away, hoping there would be another chance.
That chance came in 2022 when, by what seemed like divine arrangement, we sat beside each other during a church service. After the service, I finally gathered the courage to approach her. There was just one problem: I had left my phone with someone and needed it to get her number. I asked her to give me just a minute while I went to get it. Sadly, by the time I returned, she had already left. I was greatly disappointed. It felt like one of those once-in-a-blue-moon opportunities that had slipped through my fingers.
From time to time, I would catch glimpses of her around school. Each time I thought I had the perfect opportunity to say hello, she seemed to disappear before I could reach her. It became an almost humorous pattern.
Then came mid-2024.
I saw her in church once again, and this time I made up my mind that I wasn't going to let another opportunity pass. I even told my friends, Charles and Jacob, that I had an important engagement to attend and I needed to leave so I could hurry after her. Thankfully, this time, everything worked out. I finally introduced myself, got her contact and we began talking.
What started as a friendship soon blossomed into something beautiful. In December 2024, we officially began our journey together as a boyfriend and girlfriend.
By God's grace, our love continued to grow. We got engaged in October 2025, had our civil wedding in 2026, and now, with grateful hearts, we are excitedly preparing for our traditional wedding.
Looking back, we're reminded that God's timing is always perfect. Every missed opportunity, every delayed conversation and every unexpected encounter was part of a beautiful story He was writing all along.
And this is only the beginning... ❤️
